NGOs Call For Eco-Friendly Living In African Communities: Unveils Fueless Auto-Mobile Equipments
The United Mission For Rural And Urban Community Empowerment has flagged-off the GREEN CITY PROJECT tagged: Empowering African Communities.
This project is targeted to enhance eco-friendly living environment and boost local agriculture proceeds for rural growth, such as; providing health benefit to people who have over the years suffered environmental pollution and land degradation.
In his remarks during the Empowering African Communities Summit which flagged off 'Green City projects' held at the Atrium event center, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Dr. Fabeke Douglas, the Chairman/national coordinator for United Mission For Rural and African Community Empowerment, explained that the Green City projects is intended to bring latest innovations such as fueless motorcycle, solar generator, pumping machine, fan and batteries amongst other to the Rural African communities.
The initiative being put together by Dr Fabeke and his foreign partners, seek to restore eco-friendly environment and creating economic empowerment by establishing the first smart city in Tai local government area of Rivers State.
Dr Fabeke revealed that Green City project is aimed at transforming people in the rural areas in African communities into beacon of sustainable development, ecological restoration and jobs creation.
He said, the project is more than just an infrastructural endeavor but a movement to redefine progress and prosperity.
Keynote Address on Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Farming
A Turkey-based entrepreneur, Dr. Muhammad Mubarique, delivering his keynote speech, emphasized the need for Africa to embrace entrepreneurship and sustainable farming practices to address food insecurity.
He stated that the continent has the potential to become the world's food basket through initiatives that promote innovation in agriculture.
"It is not all about going to school and becoming a graduate to get employed. How about creating jobs? Until we shift towards entrepreneurship, we will not get it right."
He also stressed that food insecurity is a national security issue, attributing ongoing challenges to poor farming practices. "We continue to suffer because we employ outdated methods. Think of eco-friendly agriculture—organic farming has less environmental impact," he added.
The event's highlights included the presentation of an Award of Excellence, along with musical and dance performances.
